Meet an NRWer: Ken from Scentsy

As we get closer to the holidays, I thought I would highlight some of the NRW’s businesses. They’re a good source when thinking of gifts for the family.

Ken moved to Germany from Idaho two years ago. Since his wife is German, it was easier to build a home here than in the US. Unfortunately, things weren’t so easy at first. He applied for multiple jobs, but was still left without work. That’s when he made the decision to become a Scentsy consultant.

I knew I wanted to interview him since Scentsy is one of the most popular products I hear American expats miss from back home. Americans, here’s your new Scentsy hook-up. For those unfamiliar, here’s your chance to see what all the fuss is about.

Scentsy offers candles, bath and other scented products, as well as accessories. For those interested, there are three levels of opportunity to be part of Scentsy. Customers can purchase products directly, hosts can throw a party for their friends to learn more, and consultants sell the product directly to consumers. Ken can help people with all three, his contact information is provided at the end.

Why did you choose to sell Scentsy over other products?

Before I moved to Germany I was a Scentsy Independent Consultant in America and it was so much fun! The product sold itself. Everybody knew what the product was and what they wanted. It was more of something really fun to do and never seemed like work.

I first got started with Scentsy in Germany earlier this year after hearing it opened up all over Europe. What made me most excited was the fact that it is all new land for Scentsy.

What do people need to know if people want to order Scenty products from you?

You can look at the product line at Ken’s Scentsy page which will be listed at the end of this post. Please keep in mind, shipping can be from 3 to 10 days. I know this is a wide range of shipping time but most often it is 3 days. We can expect it to be a little longer during the holiday season as Scentsy has a lot more orders to fill. So expect a few more days to be on the safe side this Christmas.

Tell me more about hosting a Scentsy party.

One way people can easily learn more about Scentsy is by hosting a party. Ken will provide brochures, order forms, and samples for the party. The host receives discounts and/or free products that depend on how many items are sold.

Hosting a party with friends is not only super easy, but super fun as well! We offer two hosting options.

Option 1: Ken hosts

If you are located in the NRW region then I can come to you with all my materials and help you get setup, then when the time comes for the party the stage is yours!

Option 2: Self-hosted

If a person is comfortable with hosting the party themselves then I can drop everything off and leave, and when the person is finished with the party they can return everything.

If you had family visiting from the U.S. and they wanted to see more of the NRW, where would you take them?

I would take them is the Köln Zoo.  This is such a fun and great experience with lots of laughs, and smiles!  But with the Zoo being fairly large, it is hard to take everything in, in just one day.  Not only does the Zoo hold so many different amazing animals from all over the world, but there are so many different interactive activities which are fun and educational for kids and adults alike.  In the evening time, everyone can enjoy a yummy currywurst from many of the locations around Köln, just in time to catch an English-speaking movie at Metropolis in Köln.  With so much to do in the city of Köln you must allow yourself at least a couple of days to take in as many historical and fun attractions as possible!

I had never seen a “warmer” before I attended Ken’s Scentsy party. I think they are a genius invention and I totally love mine. The best part: no candles or hot wax are involved, really practical if you have small children.
