As we get closer to the holidays, I thought I would highlight some of the NRW’s businesses. They’re a good source when thinking of gifts for the family.
Claudia just let me know that you can order up until 18 December to get it by 23 December. Contact her today.
Claudia moved from Canada to Düsseldorf in 2008. She started working for Stella & Dot shortly after it was launched in Germany. I’ve followed her on both Facebook and Instagram for a few months and she has lots of style. I thought she would be the perfect lead into the holiday season. She’s great inspiration for upping the ante on our own holiday wardrobe, and a source for finding gifts for friends.
How did you decide to start working with Stella & Dot?
Before baby, I was quite fashionable in heels and such, but after baby, this quickly changed to more practical and “boring” looks. In the summer of 2012, I met a friend of my partner and his wife, who is a Stella & Dot stylist in the US. I had read about the company in a Canadian newspaper online and loved their business concept and jewellery. I went to a Meet Stella & Dot event in Düsseldorf and signed up as a Founding Stylist in Germany the same day.
What do you like about working with them?
I have not only met numerous great women – hostesses, customers, and fellow stylists – getting out and about with my Style Sessions, but I am also supplementing my income. Plus, every day I get to wear gorgeous high-fashion jewellery, which, as a stylist, I receive at a discount or even free.
Where can people see your collection?
There are different ways people can purchase Stella & Dot products. Contact information for Claudia is at the bottom of the post: If you are interested in the collection, browse our online catalogue or contact me for the gorgeous look book.
Do you host parties?
Yes! Host a party with your friends. We set a date, invite your friends and I will bring a trunk full of jewellery and accessories to get you and your friends styled. (Plus the host gets credit for free or discounted jewelry!) Very popular, of course, are parties in the months leading up to Christmas. People not only like to shop for themselves but also for gifts for their loved ones. If you are interested in hosting a holiday party, book your date as soon as possible. Another popular theme is the hostess birthday party: instead of racking their brain over a suitable birthday gift, party guests can buy gifts for themselves and the birthday girl gets all the hostess credits.
If you had visitors coming to the NRW, where would you take them?
My TOP 3 picks for Düsseldorf:
A great museum for art, fashion, design, architecture, and the new media. I’ve seen exhibits by Michel Comte, Albert Watson, Rankin and Bryan Adams to name a few, as well as the great Catwalks exhibition, a spectacular fashion show installation.
Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum:
Currently closed for renovations, the museum is a family favourite with its great aquariums, terrariums and a penguin pool. I am looking forward to its reopening in 2015.
A beautiful park in the centre of the city with ponds, fountains, statues and playgrounds inspired by English landscaping.

If you know any other expat businesses in the NRW that would like to be featured leading up to the holiday season, please get in touch, I have a few spots left. This is not a sponsored, or paid series, just a simple way to promote the local businesses.
