The Open Air Museum in Lindlar transports visitors back to 19th century Bergische-area landscape. They do this on their 25 acres in a variety of ways. Five buildings from the past exemplify life at different historical stages. Eight craft demonstrations by master crafters introduce visitors to old techniques. Multiple museums and exhibitions fill in the details.
With playgrounds, animals, and crafts it’s a great destination for families with young kids. They also have a museum game aimed towards keeping the smallest visitors interested in the exhibits and displays. Or borrow a set of binoculars to see more up close.
Take advantage of the trails around the site as well. Go online to download maps, or pick one up at the museum.
Check out their website for FAQs (they have lockers, wagons, umbrellas, and more to rent or borrow), opening times, schedules, and admission prices.
